Calling all architects. The Adelaide Creative Community Hub competition, announced this week, is offering USD6,000 for the design of a stimulating, creative, and multi-functional building for the South Australian Capital.

A joint initiative from Bee Breeders in partnership with the SA Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects, the Adelaide Creative Community Hub competition is open to architects from around the world.

The aim? To explore the possibilities of community stimulation through architecture, and to generate exciting public spaces that will help establish Adelaide as a creative environment.

Participants are invited to design either a permanent building or a temporary and transportable urban element that would facilitate a specific set of functions. It should also be capable of accommodating creative events that would support Adelaide in its efforts to become a truly ‘creative city’.

The competition offers a unique opportunity for architects to combine busy streetscapes with the open parkland of Victoria Square - Adelaide’s largest and busiest public park. Victoria Square is periodically transformed by a wide variety of festivals, events and installations that take place on varying scales throughout the year.

The SA Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects is keen to see the best project designs from around the world, and are open to discussing potential future collaborations with the competition winners.

The winners and selected entrants will also have their entries publically displayed as part of Adelaide’s Festival of Architecture and Design, planned for October 2017.
