Energy efficient windows and doors specialist, Solace Creations has won
the 2014 Telstra Australian Capital Territory Micro Business Award.
Building industry professional Karen Porter launched Solace Creations in
2011 when she was unable to source energy efficient windows and doors locally.
Seeing an opportunity for these products in the local market and using her
experience in the building industry, she set up Solace Creations to improve the
insulation of homes and help her clients save money on their cooling and
heating costs.
Solace Creations’ scope of services includes double glazed windows and
doors, and complementary consultations, installations and workshops on energy
efficiency.
Just three years after setting up her company, Karen has been able to
grow the turnover six-fold and increase her number of suppliers from one to
four.
The judges for the Telstra Australian Business Awards said the business’
products and services have been received exceptionally well by customers, positioning
Solace Creations as a leader in the Canberra building industry.
According to Will Irving, Telstra Business Group Managing Director and
Ambassador for the Telstra Australian Business Awards, all the winners are
brilliant and inspirational businesses whose owners are recognised for their
