Alex Nock of Woodhead’s Melbourne studio has been appointed regional principal of the Melbourne area, joining Gary Beer and Graham Bolton in the role.??

Beginning his career in the Sydney studio in 2002, Nock completed his Bachelor of Architecture and then a Masters of Design Science (Sustainable Design) with Sydney University.

He was won the position of associate in 2005, before becoming a Green Star accredited professional and Woodhead's leader of sustainability.

??Nock’s recent project experience includes the Defence Forces School of Signals Residential Accommodation at Watsonia Barracks in Victoria, Single Leap PPP Housing - including a masterplan nationally for level 5 accommodation for defence, Warrigal Retirement Living and the Foxtel Headquarters in Moonee Ponds.

Nock also spearheaded Woodhead’s carbon neutral policy, which led to new video conferencing facilities to cut the carbon emissions attributed to international and domestic travel.

?“The green code has changed the culture,” continued Nock. “We’re more aware of green issues. We send a lot of our staff to training in ratings tools and that’s really started to lift the profile of environmental issues around the office.”

Nock joins current Melbourne principals Matt Findlay and Derek Pitt, along with regional principals Gary Beer and Graham Bolton, and associate Nina Carrington.
