Leder’s iconic O’Toole Building in New York was approved for demolition by the Landmark Preservation Commission this week after St. Vincent’s Hospital submitted a proposal to build a new 100m-tall hospital.
“In a perfect world, no individual landmark or contributing building would ever be demolished,” the commission’s Fred Bland said. “But we live in New York, a place very much grounded in reality.”
