Frank Gehry has unveiled conceptual designs that will transform Toronto’s King Street Entertainment District and radically change the city’s skyline. The multi-phase, multi-year project is the largest and most significant urban project for the Toronto-born architect, bringing new cultural, residential and retail spaces to a site adjacent to the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

Alex Smith and David Lomax of young design practice Y/N Studio, have conceived a project to transform a stretch of the London Regent's Canal into a swimmable commuting route. The LidoLine would take the form of a clean "basin" inserted into the canal, allowing commuters to swim in safety alongside boats, separated by a three-layer membrane that would filter the water.

Chicago, America

Attempting to create another popular venue like Millennium Park, the city is unveiling a proposed $100 million build-out of the Chicago River riverwalk stretching from State to Lake streets, complete with distinctive names and themes for each of the six blocks. While the plans are still conceptual, and funding has not been secured, there is now a clearer vision to complete the riverwalk.

Mecenatpolis, a nearly 300,000 sq m mixed-use, transit-oriented project in the evolving Hapjeong neighbourhood in downtown Seoul, is the latest Jerde Place to open in Asia. The firm’s latest mixed-use district features three high-rise luxury residential towers and one high-rise class-A office tower above the Jerde-designed open-air mixed-use public realm with retail, dining and vibrant communal spaces.

Brighton, England

The UK's first building to be made onsite entirely out of waste is to be built on the University of Brighton's campus. Designed by architect Duncan Baker-Brown, The house that Kevin built will be created using waste and surplus material from local building sites and industries. The house will be used throughout its lifespan as a pilot for prototype construction systems, components and technologies.
