The Australian Institute of Architects is organising a series of seminars in key cities across Australia with the topic to focus on ‘building product compliance’.
To be held in June, the National Seminar Series 3 will disseminate information on specifying compliant building products for a project as well as reducing the risk of choosing products that may not be fit for purpose. The CPD events will be held in Melbourne, VIC, Brisbane, QLD, Potts Point, NSW and Nedlands, WA in addition to a Livestream session.
Presenters for the National Seminar Series include Kristin Brookfield from the Housing Industry Association (HIA), who will discuss the APCC Procurement of Construction Products: A Guide to Achieving Compliance, and offer guidance on how to determine whether a building product is suitable to use. Kristin will be joined by representatives from the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), Brett Hyland (VIC Chapter and Livestream Seminars) and Marcel Vanderslik (QLD, NSW and WA Chapter Seminars) to outline the product assurance processes that underpin some of the most common forms of compliance documentation for building products and key attributes to look for when nominating products in a specification.
Learning outcomes
Participants will be able to define the terms ‘non-conforming building product’ and ‘non-complying building product’; identify an appropriate methodology to select the type of evidence required for various building products based on their risk; identify the different types of evidence that can be provided to a building surveyor for a building product; and understand how to check whether a certificate of product conformance is valid and relevant.
