For the second time, Frank Gehry has submitted new plans for a hotel and apartment complex to be located across the road from his Walt Disney Concert Hall. The new vision would see a pair of towers constructed opposite one of his most iconic buildings. The complex will comprise a stacked arrangement of shops and restaurants, a 300-room hotel and apartments for both rent and sale.

It has been announced that Dubai will host the 2020 Expo, marking the first time that this international celebration of business and innovation will be held in the Middle East. The theme for the 2020 Expo will be ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ and an extravagant masterplan is currently under development for a site halfway from the airports of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Milan, Italy
RecchiEngineering and Carlo Ratti Associati’s winning design for Holland’s pavilion at the 2015 World Expo in Milan will feature a large agricultural field on its roof that is constantly tended by a pair of self-driving tractors. The design, which is called Earth Screening, was chosen by New Holland Agriculture to cover the 17,000 square foot space.

Brazil's World Cup preparations suffered a deadly setback on Wednesday when a crane collapsed, killing two building workers at the São Paulo stadium that is due to host the opening match. The fatalities revive concerns about unsafe infrastructure and the slow pace of construction, which have dogged Brazil for more than a year.

Alicja Borkowska and Iris Papadatou from you&me architects have been announced as the UK winners of the inaugural Old Doha Prize, a competition to redesign part of the old city of Doha in Qatar. Four teams of architects worked as part of the British-Qatari collaborative project to develop contextual design responses to address the challenge of regenerating and maintaining the heritage of the city.
