The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) announces the appointment of sustainability specialist Nicole Sullivan as the new Senior Manager – Technical Solutions.

Sullivan joins GBCA after more than two decades working with Bluescope Steel, including four years with responsibility for sustainability. In her new role at GBCA, she will be responsible for assisting in the management and ongoing operations of Green Star as well as exploring new areas of concern in the fields of product transparency and responsibility.

According to GBCA’s Executive Director of Market Transformation, Jorge Chapa, Sullivan was responsible for executing Bluescope’s sustainability strategy, working through the company’s efforts to embed lifecycle assessment into its operations, and supporting customers as they sought Green Star ratings. Given her extensive experience implementing and verifying sustainability outcomes in large organisations, she is expected to be an asset at GBCA as Green Star continues to evolve.

Chapa explains that Sullivan’s experience with the challenges faced in bringing transparency and improvements from a lifecycle and supply chain perspective will also be invaluable. Sullivan will be joining the Market Transformation team to extend the GBCA’s influence in these emerging issues for the built environment.

Observing that transforming the built environment to become resilient and sustainable has become a necessity, Sullivan adds that creating healthy, liveable, and productive spaces is the best way to create great outcomes for a better and brighter future.

Sullivan commences with the GBCA on 19 September.
