Hayball announces the appointment of Fiona Young to the position of co-director at their Sydney studio.

Young joins David Tordoff in a leadership role after nine years at BVN and will support the company’s growth in NSW since launching its Sydney studio less than 18 months ago.

Hayball says Young's wealth of experience across a range of learning environments from education projects in Dublin and Australia to exhibition and gallery spaces will support the Sydney studio as it takes on a number of public and private education projects in Sydney, in addition to residential and urban design projects in the pipeline.

Hayball managing director, Tom Jordan said that Young has a rare ability to integrate design methodology from diverse industry sectors within an individual project, making her a valuable addition to the design practice.

He said Young’s ground-breaking experience across multiple sectors and focus on research will contribute a great deal to the firm. Young is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, researching pedagogy and learning space design to create dynamic environments that engage learners of today and tomorrow. She has also previously held a board position at the NSW chapter of Learning Environments Australasia (formerly CEFPI).

Thrilled to join Hayball’s growing team in Sydney, Young said she aims to share learnings from her studies with her colleagues. In addition to overseeing education design in the Sydney studio, she will work with Tordoff to mentor the team across all disciplines.
