2015 will mark 50 years for the Red Dot Design Award program and the organisation is now calling product designers to register projects that are worthy of this year’s special celebration.

Since its inaugural year in 1955, the awards have showcased the best in product design to a global audience and the prize, the Red Dot product stamp, has become an internationally recognised quality seal.

The program is divided into 31 product categories that includes everything from household furniture to urban design and public spaces. Winners of the Red Dot can use the stamp on their product packaging and "Best of the Best" winners are offered extensive marketing and production prizes.

2014 saw a record breaking 4,815 entries including Australia-based Electrolux’s Ergorapido self-standing vacuum which took home the highest accolade in the competition, the Red Dot: Best of the Best.

The awards are assessed by a jury of international design and manufacturing experts, however to avoid bias none of the jurors are currently employees within the manufacturing industry.

The 2015 Jury includes 36 members and can be viewed here:

Entries are open till 11 February 2015 ahead of the awards ceremony to be held 29 June 2015.
