An Indian-based electric vehicle technology firm, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Victorian Government for a project that includes exploring high-efficiency building design.

The agreement includes working with La Trobe University on collaborative research and development for new energy management technologies.

"The research programme will develop new concepts and techniques at the crossroads of high-efficiency building design, electric vehicles and vehicle-to-grid technologies," Mahindra REVA said in a statement.

Victoria is commissioning a feasibility study to explore the potential for research, supply chain development, and manufacturing of clean technology vehicles in Victoria.

The research program will develop new concepts and technique, such as how energy management systems for commercial buildings would encourage employees to use electric vehicles, which could in turn serve as a source of energy for the workplace or help stabilize clean energy sources like solar or wind power.
