BVN have been announced as the architects for another major piece of Queensland sporting architecture, this time the firm will deliver the design for the $30 million State Netball Centre in Brisbane.

BVN will deliver a brand new eight-court indoor facility, training centre and administration offices for Netball Queensland who are based at the QLD Sport and Athletics Centre in Nathan. They have already commenced detailed design drawings, which will allow the project team to seek tenders to construct the facility.

It is the second major piece of sporting infrastructure won by BVN at tender in recent times, the firm was also announced as the architects for the new $101 million Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre  which has begun construction and is part of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Carrara Sports Precinct.

In a media release from the firm, BVN principal, Mark Grimmer said it was exciting for the firm to be designing a significant new sporting facility for Queensland.

Observing that netball was a dynamic game for both the players and spectators, BVN's, Paolo Frigenti added that their design for the State Netball Centre amplifies this excitement with an elevated level for spectators to view the games, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Netball Queensland CEO Catherine Clark said the proposed centre represented a significant milestone for the sport in Queensland, adding that the Government’s support has provided them with an amazing opportunity to be able to grow and expand the sport at all levels.

On-site works are expected to start later this year and will be completed by late 2017.
