The Australian Windows Association bestowed the 2012 Design Award to Paarhammer for 'Most Innovative Windows and Doors' at their recent conference in Freemantle WA.

Paarhammer received the award for their invention of windows and doors for the highest Bushfire Attack Level Flame Zone 'BAL-FZ'.

After the devastating Black Saturday Fires in 2009 new requirements for building in bushfire prone areas were set by the Australian Standard.

Paarhammer further developed their timber tilt & turn windows, doors and sliding doors to withstand extreme temperatures in excess of 850 degrees over 30 minutes with a cooling down period of 1 hour - thus achieving the Australian Standard AS1530.8.2 and AS3959-2009.

The result was achieved with locally sourced red ironbark timber, Schott Pyranova glass incorporated into double glazing, special seals and the expertise and determination of Paarhammer.

The AWA award comes on top of Paarhammer winning the Industry Category of the 2011 Victorian Fire Awareness Awards last November for the development of Flame Zone windows and doors.
