Custom joinery firm Wood Appeal has created an innovative building system, which they took the ABC's TV programme the New Inventors this week and won the round.

The Solid Infinity System allows people of any skill level to 'drop and lock' furniture onto a wall or ceiling, enabling faster and easier installation of cantilevered furniture than under current building standards.

Light-weight, waterproof polymer sheets are screwed into an existing wall or ceiling structure, with no reinforcement needed behind the existing wall.

Brackets are slotted into the perforations and pre-made furniture/cabinet/shelf is lifted and hooked on and tightened with a screwdriver.

Wood Appeal director Nicolle Drake says the product has potential applications in areas ranging from residential fit-out, demountables and pre-fabricated housing to retail and industrial fit-out and in flood prone areas.
