The Australia & New Zealand insulation industry is promoting innovative energy efficiency and insulation technology in a pursuit to lower carbon emissions and energy costs within the built environment and achieve the world’s best practice industry-wide.

Insulation Australasia was formed in late 2011 to represent all sectors of the Australian and New Zealand insulation industries. It is a product agnostic industry representative voice to all levels of government, the building and construction industry and consumers on all issues relating to both insulation products and installer services.

IA’s foundation members include Trans-Tasman insulation industry international companies with its Board representing all industry segments.

IA’s inaugural Chairman, Scott Gibson, says his members want to consistently promote throughout the region that the cheapest energy is the energy that’s saved.

“The Trans-Tasman building sector has the largest potential to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, both in the short and in the long term, when compared to many of the much touted renewable initiatives currently on the political agenda. Every fossil energy unit, or kWh of electricity unnecessarily used to heat or cool buildings could and should be kept for other purposes, for which alternatives are not available or less convenient,” he said.

“Insulation Australasia sees itself playing a crucial role on behalf of regulators in delivering industry-wide self-regulation of all insulation products & installation services so as to guarantee the modeled energy efficiency gains for insulation.

Mr. Gibson said Insulation Australasia is currently developing a submission to the Federal & State Governments which would see the association establish a whole-of-insulation industry 3rd party product & installation certification scheme to address the compliance issue.
