The Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency (DCCEE) has provided the latest update on proceeding following the bungled Home Insulation Safety Plan.

Safety inspections for households with foil and non-foil insulation are underway, with at least 50,000 safety inspections of homes with foil insulation as of November.

As of 14 November 2010, there have been more than:

- 50,000 safety inspections of homes with foil insulation

- 66,000 safety inspections of homes with non-foil insulation.

Under the Foil Insulation Safety Program (FISP), all households with foil insulation installed under the HIP are entitled to a free electrical safety inspection and are offered the choice of either removing the foil insulation, or on the advice of a licensed electrician having safety switches installed.

The majority of FISP inspections are expected to be completed by Christmas 2010.
