Lend Lease recently unveiled new office premises, Commonwealth Bank Place at Darling Quarter, in Sydney’s western CBD fringe.

Now known as Darling Quarter, the site comprises two low-rise, campus style commercial offices of eight-storeys, which will house more than 6,500 staff across 58,000 square metres of flexible working space.

Metal ceiling panel solutions from SAS International were selected throughout for the accommodation.

Both North and South buildings have central atriums, delivering abundant natural light, and chilled beam air-conditioning.  SAS International’s perforated metal ceiling panels were installed throughout the buildings to help achieve correct air flow from the chilled beams. Non-perforated System 205 panels are specified for the corridors.

The South Building presented a particular design challenge: to fit with the curved floorplate bespoke oversize panels were manufactured by SAS International.  These were installed along with System 320 trapezoidal panels to overcome the change of direction required in the ceiling plane and to take up the curve.

Due to the longevity and durability of the material, and in SAS International’s case, a minimum 25 year product life cycle of the steel in its metal ceilings and other associated metal products it is highly sought after and after paint removal is 100% recyclable into new steel.

The sustainability benefits achieved at Commonwealth Bank Place at Darling Quarter, including a 6 Star Green Star Office Design (v2), are captured on prominent wall-sized media screens in both the North and South buildings, to increase visibility and accountability for staff.

SAS International worked closely with partners Mikor on this project in Australia.
