Five promising architectural professionals were recently announced as 2013 Dulux Study Tour recipients at the Australian Achievement in Architecture Awards in Canberra.

Now in its sixth year, the Dulux Study Tour program aims to inspire and foster Australia's next generation of emerging architectural talent.

Each year, the Dulux Study Tour provides recipients with the opportunity to embark on an intensive visit to recently completed projects across the globe and to interface with some of the top architectural practices in those countries. This year, the five winners will travel to London, Barcelona and Shanghai.

To be eligible for the Dulux Study Tour, entrants submitted examples of their work, along with testimonials from clients and employers to showcase their talent. Seven jury members, consisting of experienced industry-related members, including Australian Institute of Architects National President, Shelley Penn played a hand in selecting five recipients from 60 short listed entries.

The 2013 Dulux Study Tour winners are: Adam Pustola of LYONS, Amy Muir of Muir Mendes, Mel Bright of MAKE Architecture, Luke Pendergast of Conrad Gargett Riddel and Sean Humphries of Alternative Design Studio.

“This year’s recipients are an example of the incredible talent that exists within our industry. They are not only passionate about the professional work they do but they are exceptionally committed to ensuring the next generation of architects and design professionals have wonderful mentors and leaders to draw inspiration from,” Shelley Penn said.

Dulux General Manager - Trade Division, Phil White, who was also on the selection jury, said it is Dulux’s desire to create an experience through the Dulux Study Tour that has a profound impact on the creativity and career aspirations of the participants.

“This rare opportunity allows these young Australian architects to have exclusive access to some of the world’s greatest think tanks and companies within the industry. The experience strives to enable them to embrace and nurture their passion and talent through exposure to different global perspectives,” he said.

Dulux Study Tour is open to all architects and graduates of architecture of up to 10 years from graduation of the two-tier or five year Bachelor of Architecture degree. Entries for the 2014 Dulux Study Tour will open on 25 July, 2013.
