Bates Smart has unveiled plans for a new $300 million mixed-use development in Canberra.

The project, named Constitution Place, will include a five-storey ACT government offices building and a twelve-storey mixed-use tower incorporating a 132-room hotel and an office and retail podium.

To be located on Constitution Avenue, the project will be the first private sector development to be built on the Vernon Circle side of London Circuit and it will be surrounded by several historic buildings within the Parliamentary Triangle.

The project comes during an bouyant time for development and architecture services in the national capital.

It joins a project pipeline that includes a massive mixed-use precinct proposed for Woden by Cox Architecture, a high-rise multi-tower development in Gungahlin by Nathan Gibson Judd Architect, and a new grade-A office tower in the CBD, also by Cox Architecture with local architects May + Russell Architects.

Online job advertiser, Seek also recently named architecture as the fastest growing job in the capital and reported a 14.9 per cent salary growth for architects during 2016.
