Sustainability organisation, Australian Living is organising an event in Brisbane designed to present the future of the built environment to builders, architects, designers and tradies in Queensland.

SEE Sustainable Experience 2015 will be held at the Brisbane Showgrounds from June 18 to 20, and will focus on products, solutions and education to protect the state’s built environment. The event will bring together industry experts, government representatives and innovative building companies in an exciting industry expo, combined with an educational seminar series.

Related: In a recent article, our writer Warren McLaren describes the event as Australia’s Dedicated Sustainable Building Show, similar to a living, breathing version of the book How to Rethink Building Materials, recently edited by respected environmental building designer Dick Clarke.

Highlights at SEE

  • There will be a presentation by the Founder and President of Mythic Paint, a non-toxic, VOC-free paint
  • Sessions focusing on building materials, sustainable design, insulation, HVAC and more
  • The state’s future industry experts showcasing their entries for the Built Horizon Project, a competition for senior students studying graphic design, facilitated by Construction Skills Queensland and Building Designers Australia.

Australian Living Managing Director, Cameron Rosen said that one of the major highlights of the event will be the Q and A session on the afternoon of June 19 when participants will have an opportunity to hear from leaders in the field including representatives from Master Builders Queensland, Lend Lease, HIA, Australian Institute of Architects, Brickworks, Building Designers Association Queensland, and Economic Development Queensland.

To be facilitated by Mark Thomson from the Australian Green Development Forum, this session is bound to ignite debate and discussion from builders, architects and designers.

Rosen explains that the three-day event will tackle unique challenges such as the rising cost of energy and erratic weather presenting opportunities for those that have the knowledge to create sustainable built environments and provide healthy spaces in which to live, work, and play.
