The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) has identified four bookstores to ensure Institute members continue to have access to architecture and design books.
For over 30 years, Australian architects and designers benefitted from a comprehensive collection of specialist books supplied by Architext bookstores. One of a few specialist Australian bookstores that made available a broad range of literature on architects and architecture worldwide, Architext closed down in December 2015, disappointing Institute members and the wider design community.
The four stores, Boffins Books in Perth, Folio Books in Brisbane, Metropolis in Melbourne, and Published Art in Sydney, are all longstanding specialist bookstores with a genuine focus on art and design. All of these stores have both a physical and online presence with extensive catalogues of architectural and built environment titles.
AIA members will also continue to receive a 10 per cent discount from the participating stores, a benefit that was previously available to them on purchases from Architext.
