Australian parcel locker company, Groundfloor™, has been recognised at the inaugural Proptech Awards 2021. Groundfloor won ‘Most Innovative Scale Up Proptech’ in the Property & Facilities Management category.

Proptech Association Australia’s Proptech Awards are national awards for Australia’s property technology sector. The Groundfloor™ team are thrilled with acknowledgement of their smart parcel and dry-cleaning lockers solution.

Why smart parcel lockers?

Smart parcel lockers are a simple to install but powerful property technology. Groundfloor uses a combination of smart lockers and intuitive software to fully automate the management of deliveries. Technology that brings efficiency and convenience has become an expectation of residents, tenants, and employees.

Proptech Association wrote that the judges “rated highest the ideas that were proven or could show real traction in terms of adoption and clear thinking.“ They chose winners they “saw were the soundest real estate and property technology businesses that were solving real problems and making a difference in the lives of their customers.”

One of the submitted judges comments on Groundfloor™ said “I love the simplicity of the technology (all it needs is power) and the universal application across a range of built environments.”

Australia’s trusted parcel locker solution

Groundfloor has become Australia’s trusted parcel locker solution for property and facilities managers, asset owners, and specifiers. The company has facilitated over 250,000 deliveries and collections across most of Australia’s major cities. This month, Groundfloor is launching in New Zealand.

Groundfloor parcel lockers greatly assisted Australian buildings during the pandemic. Demand more than doubled, highlighting the COVIDsafe benefits of on-premises parcel lockers. The urgency to adapt to a new normal was felt across all sectors. As Julian Kezelman, Program Director Realtech X, said,  “2020 has seen drastic changes in how we interact with the built environment”.

Across the built environment, minimising physical contact and the number of people inside a building has been crucial. Groundfloor’s smart locker solution provides a 100 percent contactless delivery and collection process and redirects couriers away from lifts and lobbies. On-premises, automated delivery solutions support the entire community.

On-premises parcel lockers in Australia

On-premises parcel lockers in Australia are still a relatively new concept. This is despite Australia being the 10th largest ecommerce market globally. Growth in Australia’s online shopping, parcel volumes, and delivery networks are creating a bottle-neck at buildings that don’t have parcel lockers. The frequency with which couriers are delivering into buildings has also increased.

Property technology is leading the way towards a more efficient, happier, and now healthier future in real estate. Tenant amenities, with their focus on occupants and their experience of the space, have undergone a significant shift.Trending tenant amenities have moved from fitness and cafes to wellness and healthcare services as well as practical amenities that provide protection in the new virus-aware environment.

The Australian Proptech Awards

The Australian Proptech Awards were announced at a May gala in Sydney. Satellite functions were held in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. Melbourne’s event was cancelled due to a snap lockdown. Melbourne teams were able to watch a live stream of the gala thanks to Property TV.

Entries for the awards came from all over Australia and New Zealand. The 21 awards were organised around three categories. They reflected the different stages of a business – Start-up, Scale Up, and Established Supplier. Entries were then reviewed in groups by a selection of 40 international judges.
