A decorative MAXI BEAM ceiling feature has been used in the foodcourt of the extension at North Rocks Shopping Centre in NSW.

The designers, BN Group, wanted to define an area for seating in a central foodcourt and at the same time, address noise reverberation. They looked for an economical lightweight timber beam product, which had an acoustic option, met strict BCA regulations but was also easy to work with onsite and could create the decorative effect they desired.

MAXI BEAM was the ideal choice as its light weight overcomes logistic problems and makes any install very economical.

In this project, the 145x50 beams were supplied cut to length to eliminate the need for cutting onsite. They were then packed and marked to simplify installation in the desired configuration. SUPABAB 7mm acoustic backing sheets were also supplied along with all the fittings needed for the install.

The beams have been configured in an aesthetically pleasing basket weave design with scattered lighting installed between them. The whole design has been recessed flush with the ceiling to achieve an uninterrupted flow from one surface to the other.

The beams have been finished in an extremely durable SUPALAMI Rustic White laminate, a textured finish with a hint of woodgrain. The beams are Fire Group 3 as per AS3839 and per BCA Spec C1.10a.

This project shows just how versatile MAXI BEAM is and how creative you can be with it.
