Sanitop, the macerator pump from Saniflo helped the owners of Woodlands Childcare resolve a challenging plumbing problem at their new premises in a commercial building on St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

Owner Mark Woodland thought he had found the most ideal location for his childcare centre, given that the building was surrounded by offices and high rise apartments. When the entire 11th floor of a commercial building became available, Woodlands quickly seized the opportunity.

Mark explained that they took up the premises as they wanted to achieve an open and free-flowing centre that mimicked a natural environment. However, the downside of taking space in a commercial building was that the premises came with no hallways or available plumbing.

Although childcare centres are required to have sufficient toilet facilities, Mark never expected plumbing would be an issue. However, when the engineer told them they couldn’t use traditional gravity plumbing for technical reasons, they were in a fix since they couldn’t operate without toilets.

That’s when Mark’s builders recommended Saniflo’s Sanitop macerator pump, a plumbing solution that allows wet areas to be created anywhere in a building. By connecting a Sanitop pump to each toilet, the waste could be pumped away to an existing sewer point without coring the slab or breaking the walls. With the Saniflo solution allowing the option to pump 5m vertically, or 100m horizontally, or lesser combinations of both, Mark had the flexibility to place toilet facilities wherever he wanted.

Woodlands Childcare was thrilled with the Saniflo solution as it didn’t need engineering reports or even a council permit. Mark also appreciates the quick installation and problem-free operation since, and the fact that their design hasn’t been limited by plumbing.
