Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows were selected by the architects as part of a materials palette that addressed key considerations of sustainability, durability and ease of maintenance.

Biscoe Wilson Architects was engaged by the Department of Education to design and document a new high school proposed for Calliope near Gladstone to cater to the growing community in the region. The masterplan for the new school included an administration and staff centre, junior general learning centre, resource centre, multipurpose hall, outdoor playing courts, hospitality block, canteen, science centre, and technology centre.

The architecture practice’s wide-ranging experience in the education sector demonstrated their mission to design facilities that provide comfort, innovation and inspiration. Choice of materials was an important element in achieving these goals. From the COLORBOND roofs and awnings and metal wall cladding to Safetyline Jalousie’s 458 louvre windows, each product was carefully selected for its sustainability and durability features as well as ease of maintenance.

Louvres provide an attractive and stylish ventilation solution, particularly in North Queensland’s warm and humid climate. Utilising Safetyline Jalousie’s extra-wide spans, louvres were specified throughout the 9 buildings to promote natural airflow and reduce the reliance on air conditioning and its associated costs.

Safetyline Jalousie was also specified over other louvre options for the quality engineering of their products. When considering the longevity of the materials and the entire lifecycle of the project, the strong and robust nature of Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows stood out. The extensive use and proven success of Safetyline Jalousie louvres in education facilities across Australia also supported the decision-making process.

The design team opted for standard levers for ease of operation for both teachers and students. The sturdy metal operators are cam driven to open to 3 different opening positions for control of airflow.

Safetyline Jalousie offers guarantees and warranties and conforms to an industry code of conduct designed to protect consumers. This along with the after-sales service offered by Safetyline Jalousie provided Biscoe Wilson Architects and The Department of Education with additional confidence. All service and maintenance requests can be made via Safetyline Jalousie’s head office with their trained and skilled service team attending to all cities and regional areas of Australia to ensure that the quality of the product is always retained.
