Rescue My Concrete Pty Ltd was approached by COLGAN Industries to provide an alternative waterproofing solution to the bituminous membrane specified for the Karrakatta Mausoleum.

Following months of persuasion by the Rescue My Concrete team on the need for higher quality, fast installation, greater longevity, and a greater envelope of application possibilities, the client finally gave the go-ahead to cover a sample area. The sample application convinced the client of the quality and suitability of the waterproofing solution with premium protective coatings manufactured in Australia by Rhino Linings.

Working with Supreme Coating Systems, the Rescue My Concrete team installed the waterproofing membrane at 40% of their cheapest competitor’s cost (bitumen sheet products). All the different substrates were prepared appropriately and used to seamlessly cover the transitions to the specified copper gutter systems. This means they are not only receiving run-off water directly over the membrane from the roof but also eliminating any chance of unwanted water run-offs around the gutters as they are solidly ‘glued’ to the building.

The professional drone pilot managed to capture footage that showcases the extent of the project (~1,200sqm) and details of the application. The clip shows the different substrates and a multitude of risers, penetrations and parapet walls that the Rescue My Concrete team covered on top of 14 different buildings. Needless to say, more than 50% of the job was surface preparation.

The Rescue My Concrete team faced a number of challenges during this project including high wind speeds and over-spray, bird droppings and birds dropping tree berries, achieving a smooth finish of the spray membrane on all vertical surfaces and the custom coloured topcoat.
