The Australian Catholic University has been designed and built for sustainability with several features incorporated for energy and water efficiency.

In addition to a rain harvesting facility on its roof, the university building is fitted out with water-saving appliances, low energy lights and an extremely energy-efficient heating and cooling system, along with other sustainable features.

The Australian Catholic University was awarded the maximum 6 Star Green Star – Education Design v1 Certified rating by the Green Building Council of Australia.

ASP Access Floors was engaged by the builder, Abigroup to install access flooring for the underfloor air-conditioning system. ASP’s installation covered an area of 20,000m² with the 6-month project completed in February 2012.

ASP’s access floor systems used in the installation included a steel cementitious airtight stringerless system with a 4.5kN loading at 450mm FFH; and a steel cementitious HPL rigid grid system with a 4.5kN loading at 150mm FFH in the switch rooms.
